Have You Said Hello đź‘‹ to Your Cervix Yet?
The cervix, thanks to the daily flux of our hormones, changes in height, texture, and openness throughout the cycle.
You can track the changes in your cervix throughout your cycle to help you identify when you are in your fertile wave.
Cervix checks can also be extremely helpful if you are someone who doesn’t produce a lot of cervical fluid or if you need another fertility sign to confirm where you are in your cycle, which can be extremely helpful for people trying to avoid pregnancy or trying to get pregnant.
Including cervix checks into my cycle tracking practice has been a game changer!
I check my cervix about 1x a day usually in the morning, beginning after my period ends through till the end of my fertile window.
How to locate your cervix
The cervix is the part of your uterus that sits in your vaginal canal.
You can find your cervix by inserting a finger into your vaginal canal and reaching up to the very top.
You’ll find a nub that kinda feels like the tip of your nose.
Best positions to locate your cervix: deep squat, sitting on the toilet, in the shower with one foot up.
Make sure your hands are clean before performing a cervix check.
Tune into these characteristics of your cervix:
Height- is your cervix high, medium or low in your vaginal canal
Os/opening- is the opening of your cervix open or firmed closed?
Texture- is the texture of your cervix soft, medium, or firm?
Alignment- is your cervix tipped back, forward, to the left or right side? How does this change when you are in a fertile time of your cycle vs. an infertile time of your cycle?
Go slow, get permission, and send love đź’›
You may only be able to notice one of these characteristics at first. That’s Okayy! The more you build a relationship with this part of your body, the more you’ll begin to notice new things.
You may notice that you are more sensitive to touch during certain parts of your cycle, or just sensitive to touch in general. If you’re cervix says “no thanks!”, please listen!
You don’t need to push past the pain or sensitivity.
Your cervix has its own story to tell- maybe one of pleasure, pain, trauma, birth, miscarriage, pregnancy release. I think of the cervix as the gatekeeper, the guardian of the womb/uterus.
Connecting to your gatekeeper, your protector can have profound energetic, physical, and spiritual impacts on your fertility and relationship to one of the most profound organs of your body!
